In the Lviv region, three boys were hospitalized during the week who tried to make a firecracker according to the instructions on the TikTok social network. The patients received deep facial burns.
This is reported by the Lviv City Council.
“The new scourge from TikTok is harming the health and lives of Ukrainian children. After all, they make a “firecracker” and end up in the hospital with deep facial burns. Lviv doctors emphasize this and call on parents and children to be careful: in the last week alone, three children were admitted to the hospital with such an injury,” the message reads.
It is reported that the ambulance transported three boys, aged 10, 11 and 15, to the St. Nicholas Children’s Hospital of the First Medical Association of Lviv. An improvised explosive device exploded in front of their faces.
“These children do not know each other, however, they have one thing in common: they all made a homemade “firecracker” according to step-by-step instructions on the TikTok network. The children took a plastic bottle, water, a foil ball, a means for cleaning pipes and made explosives from them,” the city council said.
11-year-old V’yacheslav from the Lviv region said that he saw teenagers making a “firecracker” on the street according to instructions from social networks. So they decided to do it again – mixing all the ingredients and shaking the bottle to cause a chemical reaction. The bottle burst in front of Vyacheslav, its contents splashed on his face.
“Such patients come to us with deep chemical facial burns. After all, the means for cleaning pipes, which is in these so-called “firecrackers”, literally eats the skin of children. The eyes suffer the most, because the tissues there are the thinnest. We already helped three children in a week. All of them, unfortunately, will have scars on their faces,” said Galina Sayan, burn and plastic surgeon, head of the City Center for Thermal Trauma and Burn Surgery of the First Medical Association of Lviv.
Earlier, in the Lviv region, two people were injured due to the ignition of a solid fuel boiler.
