In Lviv region, law enforcement officers sent an indictment against six participants of a criminal group who worked in the bank and set up a scheme of taking possession of clients.

Cyber Police, together with investigators of the Main Directorate of the National Police and employees of the Regional Security Service of Ukraine, exposed employees of one of the branches of the bank who appropriated funds from the accounts of a certain category of clients, to January.
According to the investigation, among the bank’s employees was the head of the department. During 2023-2024, fraudsters organized an unlawful scheme for the seizure of funds stored in citizens’ bank accounts.
With access to customer data who can be in temporarily captured territories and in the southern and eastern regions of Ukraine, they replaced the financial telephone numbers of clients with control.
In this way, bankers received access to the Internet banking system, released bank cards and carried out financial transactions on behalf of clients without their knowledge.
To create the visual effect of the presence of the victims in the department when changing the financial number and over release of the card, the persons involved replaced photos of clients with software.
After the bank card release, the head of the department received it in the cash desk personally, and in the future transferred funds to cash through ATMs or POS terminals directly in the department.
Without the legitimate owners, the suspects have appropriated funds from 19 bank accounts, and the total amount of losses is over UAH 1 million.
Police conducted searches at the places of residence and registration of the persons involved, seized the draft records with information about the details of the bank’s customers, which conducted unauthorized financial transactions, bank cards and mobile phones.
Law enforcement officers completed the pre -trial investigation and sent indictments to the court, depending on their role in the criminal scheme, under Part 3, 5 of Art. 27, Part 3 of Art. 28, h. 1, 3 tbsp. 362 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (unauthorized actions with information processed in electronic computers (computers), automated systems, computer networks or stored on the carriers of such information committed by a person entitled to access it). The sanction of articles provides for imprisonment for up to six years with deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to three years.
Earlier, police exposed and gathered evidence of the criminal activity of a 28-year-old resident of Sheptytsky, who appropriated almost one and a half million hryvnias. The accused faces up to twelve years in prison with confiscation of property.
In Ukraine, the Oertes of the DSR and the National Police investigators, prosecutors in cooperation with the competent authorities of Lithuania and Latvia with the support of Eurostics exposed 14 defendants involved in the work of the fraudulent Call center. They managed to deceive Lithuanian citizens by over UAH 11 million.
