Detectives of the Territorial Administration of the Bureau of Economic Security (Bab) in the Kiev region conducted a successful operation to terminate underground production and sale of counterfeit wine organized by certain functionaries of the UOC.

Large -scale activity unfolded in two regions – Kyiv and Rivne. The impressive amount of counterfeit alcohol – almost 20 thousand liters, which poses a significant threat to the health of the population was removed from illicit circulation.
The investigation found that a group of persons established mass production of counterfeit products, including grape wine, in order to generate illegal profit. The attackers acted boldly and organized, purchasing all the necessary equipment, raw materials and materials for establishing a smooth process.
Alcohol dangerous for life was sold both wholesale and retail, at danger a wide range of consumers.
As part of the operation, Bab detectives conducted 13 sanctioned searches in the territory of Kyiv and Rivne regions. The searches were held at the addresses of illegal industries, in vehicles used for the transportation of forgery, as well as at the places of residence of the persons involved.
Not only a significant amount of counterfeit alcohol was identified and seized during the searches, but also the equipment for bottling wine, “rough” records, computer equipment, financial and economic documentation and other material evidence confirming criminal activity.
The estimated value of the removed excise goods is UAH 1.8 million.
The pre -trial investigation is currently underway to establish a full range of persons involved in this illegal activity.
Law enforcement officers are working to collect evidence and establish all links of the criminal scheme. Operational support is carried out by the SBU staff, and procedural leadership – prosecutors of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
