According to the case file, the perpetrator was a 32-year-old miner from the temporarily occupied Novogrodivka, recruited by the Russian special services.
The Russians attacked the man through the banned Odnoklassniki social network, where a “liaison” intelligence agency of the Russian Federation met him and offered cooperation in exchange for a virtual close relationship.
After that, the detainee began to monitor the positions of the Defense Forces in the city and its surroundings and to transmit the coordinates to the occupiers. The Russian Federation used the received intelligence to plan airstrikes on the community in order to attack the Pokrovsky direction.
After the occupation of Novogrodivka, the agent left for the Kyiv region, hoping to “lie down” and continue intelligence activities in the interests of the enemy. The SBU established his whereabouts and detained him in a rented house.
SBU investigators informed the agent of suspicion of treason committed under martial law. The man is currently in custody without bail. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine exposed and detained another agent of Russian military intelligence, who operated as part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
It will be recalled that the Security Service of Ukraine notified four bloggers of suspicion for “leaking” the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The SBU also exposed three schemes for evading mobilization.
