The 54-year-old local resident was recruited by the Russian special services. The man previously published anti-Ukrainian comments in Telegram channels. On the instructions of the enemy, he made an improvised explosive device (IED) with a sensor and planted it under the railway sleepers. The first explosion did not derail the train.
After that, the agent received instructions to place a new SVP under the military echelon. For this, the Russians handed him components, including sensors and 8 kg of plastid, which were delivered by drone in the Kharkiv district.
During the searches, a smartphone with evidence of working for the enemy was seized from the detainee. Currently, the man has been notified of suspicion for sabotage under martial law and preparation for sabotage, illegal handling of explosives).
The agent is in custody without bail. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The SBU emphasized that thanks to the operational actions of the Ukrainian special services, a new explosion was prevented, and sabotage attempts by Russian agents in the Kharkiv region were foiled.
In the Kyiv region, the Security Service of Ukraine detained another member of the FSB agent network. He was exposed in the spring of this year, when the agent was collecting data to adjust missile and drone attacks by Russian forces on Kyiv.
