The campaign is timed to the third anniversary of the end of Mariupol’s defense. It was on May 20, 2022 that the last defenders of the city, by order of the military leadership, left the Azovstal plant in captivity.
The action was joined by dozens of businesses all over Ukraine, including: TSUM Kiev, Egersund, Multiplex, One Love, Ponchyk Boy, Milk Bar, Varus, Goodwine and others.
Last year, the Heart of Azovstali conducted a lawyupol defense advocacy campaign. This year, we decided to make it even larger by attaching different businesses and brands. This is important, because our prisoners of war are in absolute information isolation. Psychological pressure exerts them, in particular, telling them that they have been forgotten that they were not needed in their state, ” – said Natalia Yemchenko, chairman of the Supervisory Board of Azovstal.
According to her, such stocks are a way to show that we are waiting for them. And the more people are involved, the better. It is also support for relatives who are waiting for their loved ones. They see they are not alone in their expectation. What we wait and fight for them together.
The purpose of the action is to draw attention to the problem of liberation of Ukrainian prisoners of war, since 2000 defenders of Mariupol are still in captivity.
We will remind, in September last year after a long time in the Russian captivity 15 servicemen of the regiment “Azov” of the National Guard of Ukraine returned home. They are mostly women.
