In Poltava, there is a rapid increase in the number of homeless dogs, in particular, representatives of fighting breeds, including pit bulls and Staffordshire terriers.

Poltava Oblast informs about this.

“Yes, during the last months, in the enclosures of the animal detention center, dogs of fighting breeds have increased, which are dangerous for people and require care from professional canine experts,” the publication noted.

The increase in the number of homeless dogs of dangerous breeds is explained by the fact that their owners abandon them, leaving them to live on the streets.

“They are thrown out by the owners, sometimes not local, but who are transiting through Poltava. The number of purebred dogs that have become aggressive towards people because of the latter’s fault is not decreasing either — they threw stones and sticks at the animals,” the report says.

In this regard, the representative of KP “KATP-1628”, responsible for working with homeless animals, informed the Poltava City Council session about the redistribution of 200,000 hryvnias as part of the city’s animal welfare program.

It will be recalled that the Turkish parliament is considering a draft law that provides up to two years of imprisonment for municipal employees for improper treatment of homeless animals.
