In Odessa, the first court hearing in the case of Mykola Mayorenko, a Russian agent who is accused of assassing to the murder of two Ukrainian public figures: Gennady Babutyan and Demyan Ganula, took place.

Mayorenko is accused of attempted murder committed by order, as well as unlawful treatment of combat supplies. The Court considers the issue of additional qualification of its actions under Article 111 (2) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The accused asked to postpone the meeting due to the lack of a lawyer, but the defense counsel subsequently joined the trial.
The prosecutor and one of the victims appealed for the closed regime, but the court decided that the next meeting would be opened on June 3, 2025 at 14:30. At the same time, individual meetings are planned to be held in closed mode, so as not to disclose the secrets of the investigation.
The measure for Mayorenko – detention without the right to make a bail – was extended until July 25.
