The abbot of one of the churches of the UOC MP was informed of suspicion of anti-Ukrainian activities.
According to the message of the SBU, anti-Ukrainian activities on the part of the rector of the Odesa Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (MP) have been documented. The cleric justified the Russian Federation’s war against Ukraine and incited religious hatred.
During sermons and communication with the faithful, the archpriest praised Putin and heroized the occupying groups of Russia. He also tried to justify the war crimes of the Rashists, including Russian shelling of the civilian infrastructure of Ukraine. Separately, the cleric imposed his own intolerance towards representatives of other denominations on parishioners and incited religious enmity.
The forensic-linguistic examination initiated by the Security Service confirmed the facts of information-subversive activities of the archpriest in favor of the Russian Federation.
On the basis of the collected evidence, the investigators of the Security Service notified the accused of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- h 1 Art. 161 (violation of the equality of citizens depending on their racial, national, regional belonging, religious beliefs and on other grounds);
- h 1 Art. 436-2 (justification, recognition as legitimate, denial of armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).
Earlier, a cleric of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (MP) recruited by the Russians, who passed on information about the defense of Sumy Oblast to the FSB, was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
