A 30-year-old resident of the Zolochiv district was issued administrative records for:
- Part 1 of Art. 184 of the Labor Code of Ukraine (failure by parents to fulfill their duties regarding raising children) — provides for a fine of 50 to 100 tax-free minimums.
- Part 1 of Art. 89 of the Labor Code of Ukraine (cruelty to animals) – provides for a fine of 200 to 300 tax-free minimums.
- The case materials have been referred to the court.
Cat voluntarily handed over to animal rights activists until a legal decision is made by the court.
The girl’s mother, a doctor from the Lviv hospital, publicly apologized for the situation and stated that she considers such treatment of animals unacceptable. This was reported by the police of the Lviv region.
The video, in which a child forcibly holds a cat and paints it with felt-tip pens, caused a wide public outcry and indignation on social networks. Animal rights activists called the incident cruel treatment of an animal, and the police of the Lviv region started an investigation.
