Educational institutions of Kyiv received recommendations from the city authorities to prepare for draining water from heating systems. This is done to avoid burst pipes due to interruptions with heat and electricity after massive attacks. Universities and dormitories are preparing for possible forced measures to prevent accidents, the President of the Kyiv Aviation Institute, Ksenia Semenova, described the situation in the Telegram chat.

According to her, the situation is still uncertain, and a specific team from the city has not yet arrived. “We have a problem with the upper dormitories. If there is a team from the city, we will also drain. Then the residents have three options: go home, move to the lower dormitories, buy a winter sleeping bag,” Semenova explained.

Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko previously reported that almost half of apartment buildings were left without heat supply due to damage to critical infrastructure during the attack. So far, utility workers have provided heat to social institutions, including hospitals and maternity homes, with the help of mobile boilers, and continue to restore electricity and heat supply in residential buildings.

Klitschko also appealed to the residents of the capital: “If there is an opportunity to temporarily leave the city, where there are alternative sources of power and heat, do it.” Such measures help to avoid accidents in heating systems and reduce the load on the network in crisis conditions.
