The police of Kyiv and the Security Service of Ukraine detained an attacker who set fire to a serviceman’s car in the capital’s Obolonskyi district at the behest of the enemy. The customer promised a payment of $1.5 thousand for the destruction of the car, but the executor never received the money.

According to the police, the 102 hotline received a report that a Mitsubishi car was on fire on Obolonsky Avenue. The investigative and operative group of the territorial police department and employees of the State Emergency Service arrived at the scene of the incident.
The law enforcement officers established that the vehicle belongs to a serviceman who defends the country at the front. During the inspection of the crime scene, the police officers found bottles of the incendiary agent, and after analyzing the video from the surveillance cameras, they also identified the identity of the arsonist. He turned out to be a 29-year-old local resident.
Operatives of the Obolon police department, with the involvement of criminal analysis analysts, together with SBU employees established that the suspect received an arson order via messenger from the so-called “curator”.
According to the investigation, the attacker, having chosen a vehicle, poured a flammable liquid on the hood of the SUV and set it on fire. A representative of the enemy’s special services promised him a monetary reward of $1.5 thousand for the destruction of a military car, but the executor never received the promised money.
The perpetrator was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, he was informed of the suspicion under Part 1 of Art. 114-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – obstructing the legal activities of the Armed Forces and other military formations during a special period. According to the sanction of the article, the defendant faces up to eight years in prison.
