The police of the Shevchenkiv district of the capital quickly responded to the report of a Volkswagen car, on the roof of which an object similar to the Russian anti-personnel mine “Pelyustka” was spotted.
According to the Kyiv police, after the vehicle was stopped, explosives technicians and an investigative team arrived at the scene to conduct an inspection. Specialists established that the object does not pose a real threat, as it is a plastic model of a PFM-1 anti-personnel mine.
The owner of the car turned out to be a 38-year-old man from Kyiv, who independently made a dummy with the help of a 3D printer. The man fixed the printed “Petal” on the roof of his car, which caused concern and numerous calls from citizens to the hotline 102. The driver explained his actions as a desire to attract attention, but the law enforcement officers regarded such an act as a violation of public order and peace.
Regarding the violator, an administrative protocol was drawn up under Article 173 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses, which provides for liability for petty hooliganism. The police emphasize that in the conditions of martial law, such “jokes” are unacceptable, as they distract the significant forces of emergency services from performing real combat and security tasks. Currently, all the collected materials have been submitted to the court for a final decision on the punishment of the Kyivan.
