In Kharkiv, it was decided to name two streets in honor of the fallen F-16 pilots-Alexei Mesya and Maxim Ustimenko, who were distinguished during the protection of the city from Russian attacks.
Mayor Igor Terekhov reported about it, stressed that both pilots were real professionals and devoted to their business.
It was in Kharkiv that they began their journey in military aviation, received education and formed as officers.
Alexei Mes, who was only 30 years old, died on August 29, 2024. On that day, the General Staff of the Armed Forces reported the loss of the US F-16 fighter.
According to the Air Force, Alexei was able to destroy three winged missiles and one shock drone before his aircraft got into a disaster. During the combat mission with the fighter, they lost their connection, and subsequently confirmed the death of the pilot.
Maxim Ustimenko died on the night of June 29, when he reflected the massive attack of the enemy. He managed to knock down seven Russian air purposes, but during his last battle, his plane suffered serious damage and began to lose height rapidly.
Maxim did his best to remove the car from residential buildings, but he did not have time to catapult.
We will remind, the President posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine to Colonel Maxim Ustimenko, who on his F-16 reflected the Russian rocket attack on June 29.
We have already reported that the DBR investigates the F-16 fighter crash on August 26, 2024, which led to the death of the pilot Alexei Mesa. Expertise is conducted in the case.
