In international law there is no reason to limit a musical product on a linguistic basis – Shmigalshmigal

Prime Minister Denis Schmigal responded to a petition to block songs in Russian on stringing platforms in Ukraine. The head of government noted that in international law, Ukrainian legislation and the rules of broadcasting of foreign platforms there are no legal grounds for banning or restricting a musical product on a linguistic basis. Prime Minister Denis Schmigal responded to a petition to block songs in Russian on stringing platforms in Ukraine. The head of government noted that in international law, Ukrainian legislation and the rules of broadcasting of foreign platforms there are no legal grounds for banning or restricting a musical product on a linguistic basis.

He wrote about it in response to the petition.

“Today, in international law, Ukrainian legislation and in the rules of broadcasting of foreign platforms there are no legal grounds for banning or other forms of restriction of a musical product on a linguistic basis. However, in order to ensure information and national security of Ukraine there is a need to improve the regulatory and legislative framework, in particular by introducing measures, which are directed to the content of the country, in particular. – said in the text.

The Prime Minister noted that for this purpose, the Digital Services Act (DSA) and Digital Markets Act (DMA), which are aimed at reducing possible systemic risks and threats to democratic processes, came into force in the Member States of the European Union.

According to the DSA platform that do not belong to very large online platforms (VLOPS) and very large online search engines (VLOSES) and VLOSES-VLOSES), at the national level of digital services (DIRODESS). DSCS), unlike VLOPS and VLOSES, which are controlled directly by the European Commission.

“In this regard, Ukraine is interested in the harmonization of domestic legislation with the rules of legislation of the European Union, in particular in the field of digital development, so the central executive bodies are working on the adoption of Ukrainian analogues of EU DSA and DMA acts, the provisions of which should be implemented to national legislation,” he added.

Considering the public interest in the issue raised in the petition, the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications, together with the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the Ministry of Justice, it was already being instructed to work out the issue additionally.

We will remind, on February 19, a petition on the site of the Cabinet of Ministers appeared a petition with a call to block songs in Russian on stringing platforms in Ukraine. It has gained the number of votes required for consideration.

Earlier in Rivne region in Ostroh, city council deputies voted for the release of Mayor Yuri Yagodka. He was accused of listening to Russian songs and images of residents of the city.
