In the temporarily occupied Crimea, Russian security forces are once again carrying out mass searches and detentions of Crimean Tatars. Victims of repression are peaceful women, mothers and students.
This is reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
On the morning of October 15, employees of the Russian occupation authorities conducted raids on the homes of Crimean Tatars in several areas of the peninsula. Among the detainees were women of various ages and professions: mothers, kindergarten teachers, students of pedagogical colleges.
In particular, Esma Nimetulayeva, the wife of a political prisoner and mother of five children, Nasiba Saidova, as well as Elvira Aliyeva, Elyanora Osmanova and Fevziy Osmanova, were detained.
At the same time, Russian propaganda media spread false accusations about a “women’s group that promoted the ideas of a global caliphate”, trying to justify the actions of the occupiers and present peaceful women as “terrorists”. These statements have nothing to do with reality and serve only as a tool to pressure and intimidate the population.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine called these actions part of Moscow’s purposeful policy of destroying the Crimean Tatar identity, spiritual values and the people’s right to their own land.
The persecution grossly violates international humanitarian law, including the Fourth Geneva Convention, and fundamental human rights.
Ukraine appealed to the international community, human rights organizations and the media with the demand to draw attention to the repressions, to demand the immediate release of detainees and all illegally detained citizens of Ukraine.
No crime of the occupiers will go unpunished, and Crimea will forever remain part of Ukraine, the department added.
Genocide of Ukrainians and Crimean Tatars is actually taking place on the territory of Crimea temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation, which cannot be accepted by a civilized society.
We will remind you that Russian security forces are in the temporarily occupied Crimea houses were searched Crimean Tatars. For unknown reasons, six inhabitants of the peninsula from different settlements were detained during the raid.
Russian court sent behind bars for 17 years of the Crimean imam Raif Fevziev due to alleged participation in the Islamic political party Hizb ut-Tahrir.
In the Russian Southern District Court in Rostov-on-Don announced the so-called “sentences” to five persons involved in the case of Crimean Muslims. Together, they were sentenced to 65 years in prison.
