In December 2023, the man communicated on Telegram with a person who was later identified by law enforcement officers as an employee of the border department of the FSB of the Russian Federation in the Bryansk region. A resident of Chernihiv region wrote to the interlocutor about the location of roadblocks at the entrances and exits to the city of Semenivka, the location of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, the accumulation of military equipment, and the address of the TCC. He also sent photos and videos.
At the court, the man pleaded guilty. According to him, a man who introduced himself as a Russian wrote to him and informed him that the Russian military “is going to enter their city of Semenivka and not leave it.” The stranger offered to photograph for him the locations of the armed forces in exchange for the fact that civilians would not be harmed. He also said that if the man stopped writing, someone might get hurt.
The court did not see evidence in the materials that it was really an employee of the border service of the FSB of the Russian Federation or any other representative of a foreign state. In addition, none of the objects that the accused wrote about were shelled.
In addition, it turned out that the man is currently under psychiatric care with a psychiatrist since his school years and was even treated as an inpatient in 2000. The examination confirmed that he cannot be fully aware of his actions.
He has been in custody since mid-March last year. However, now the court found him innocent, and he was released right in the courtroom.
