Two citizens of Moldova, recruited by Russian special services through Telegram, set fire to an administrative building and cars in Bukovina.
They will be tried for a terrorist act, according to the Chernivtsi Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the investigation, the curator from the Russian Federation sent the performers video instructions and ordered to destabilize the socio-political situation in the Chernivtsi and Ivano-Frankivsk regions. In November 2025, the men came to Ukraine, bought flammable substances and set fire to the rural council of the Mamaiv community, breaking a window and dousing the building with fuel. The fire was filmed and reported to the curator.
Damages amount to about 700 thousand hryvnias. After that, the men left for the neighboring region, where they were detained. They are currently in custody, and the prosecutor’s office sent an indictment against them to the court under Part 2 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
