“Since the beginning of 2024, 19 cases of mushroom poisoning have been registered in the region. As a result, 25 people were injured, including 10 children. In October, 16 cases of mushroom poisoning were registered, and there were 22 victims, including 9 children,” Nataliya Prokopchuk, a doctor at the Epidemiological Department of the Chernivtsi Regional Center for Disease Prevention and Control, announced the record statistics.
Doctors say that the causes of poisoning, as in previous years, are the use of such conditionally edible mushrooms as porcini mushrooms and porcini mushrooms.
“We also had four cases of poisoning this year after people bought mushrooms. Twice it was the purchase of mushrooms at the “Central” market, and once at the Kalinivsky market and at the “Holovny” market on Enthusiastiv Street,” the doctor continued.
