After long consultations between representatives of Ukraine and Russia, the process of restoring the connection of the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant began.
This was reported by CEO Raphael Grosssey.
According to him, repair work is carried out on two damaged lines-750 kV “Dniprovskaya” and 330 kV “Ferroallovna-1”, which are located on different sides of the front line. They should provide the station with external power necessary for cooling six stopped reactors and waste nuclear fuel.
“Although it will take some time before the connection of the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant to the network will be restored, both sides are working with us structurally to achieve this important goal for nuclear security. No one wins from the further deterioration of the situation, ”Grossi said.
CEO of Maga Raphael Grosssey noted that after the shutdown of the Zaporozhye NPP from external power sources at the station there is a serious situation in terms of nuclear security.
From September 23, Zaporizhzhya NPP has been operating in power supply from backup diesel generators. This creates serious risks, because neither generators nor the station itself are designed for such long work.
