January 2026 in Ukraine will be full of holidays, but without a long weekend. The first month of the year will combine New Year’s and Christmas dates with important public and memorial days, while most Ukrainians will work as usual due to martial law.

January traditionally opens the year and ends the Christmas-New Year cycle. In 2026, it will bring many public, international and professional holidays to Ukrainians, but the number of official weekends will remain limited. In January 2026, 22 working days and 9 days off are planned. The working week will last from Monday to Friday, and weekends will remain the standard Saturdays and Sundays.

Calendar of working days and weekends

Working days:
January 1–2, 5–9, 12–16, 19–23, 26–30.

Days off:
January 3–4, 10–11, 17–18, 24–25, 31.

It is worth paying attention that January 1, 2026 falls on a Thursday. At the same time, due to the martial law in Ukraine, additional days off are not introduced. This is stipulated by the law “On the organization of labor relations under martial law”.
