Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz promised Zelensky the delivery of another IRIS-T system by the end of the year.

Zelenskyi wrote about this in X (Twitter) based on the results of a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

According to him, Scholz confirmed during the conversation that the sixth planned IRIS-T air defense system will be delivered to Ukraine by the end of this year.

“We also discussed the delivery of air defense equipment next year and the potential for additional assistance from Germany in the air defense sector,” the Ukrainian president noted.

He said that during the conversation with Scholz, he coordinated steps to ensure the best possible defense and political support for Ukraine.

“We agreed on the importance of preserving the Rammstein format and holding the next meeting of the coordination group,” added Zelenskyy.

He also thanked Scholz “for Germany’s significant bilateral defense assistance and its leadership in uniting partners to support Ukraine.”

“I also emphasized that Ukraine’s vision for a just and lasting peace should be presented at the G20 summit in Brazil, and I thanked Germany for its willingness to support us in these efforts,” Zelenskyy summarized.

In turn, Scholz’s office informed that the head of the German government confirmed Germany’s unchanging and unwavering solidarity with Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression, which has been going on for almost 1,000 days. He assured that Germany will continue to provide support to Ukraine, particularly in the military sphere.

Meanwhile, on November 13, during a speech in the Bundestag, Scholz once again confirmed that he would not supply Ukraine with weapons to attack targets deep in Russian territory, in particular Taurus cruise missiles. The chancellor took credit for the fact that thanks to this “there was no escalation” in the war in Ukraine.
