Before leaving for the G7 summit in Canada, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadeful said that Berlin would continue large-scale support for Ukraine, both military and humanitarian.
According to the minister, this year Germany has already provided Ukraine with 9 billion euros in military aid and is allocating an additional 40 million euros to prepare for a difficult winter — to maintain heat and light in Ukrainian homes despite Russian attacks on the energy infrastructure.
Wadeful stressed that Germany is “determined to help Ukraine to a just peace” and will coordinate steps with G7 partners against the backdrop of global crises.
Other key topics of the summit include the situation in the Middle East, the stabilization of Sudan and Haiti, as well as the security of trade routes and critical raw materials. The minister stressed that threats to infrastructure, attacks on air traffic and interference in elections make G7 unity more necessary than ever.
In addition to the G7 countries, India, South Korea, Saudi Arabia and South Africa will also participate in the meeting.
During the EU enlargement summit, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Germany had recently handed over two Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine, which have already begun to be used.
We will remind that Germany will allocate an additional 3 billion euros to Ukraine.
