The government is launching zero credits for generators and batteries for businesses. Entrepreneurs will be able to borrow up to 10 million hryvnias without interest for up to three years in order to keep their jobs during the energy crisis. This was announced by the Prime Minister Yulia Svyridenko.
Ukrainian enterprises that work under the “5-7-9%” program will be able to receive a targeted loan for energy equipment with a zero interest rate. It is about the purchase of generators and storage batteries that allow the business to work even during long power outages. According to Yulia Svyridenko, the state will fully compensate the interest through the Entrepreneurship Development Fund, so the loan will actually be free for businesses.
Almost 50 partner banks of the state program “5-7-9%” will provide loans. The maximum amount of financing is up to 10 million hryvnias, and the term is up to three years. The funds are earmarked and can be used specifically for the purchase of energy equipment.
The government emphasizes that this decision was taken against the background of a difficult situation in the energy system and regular attacks on infrastructure. Businesses in many regions are forced to operate under conditions of electricity shortages, and generators and batteries are becoming a matter of survival for businesses and jobs. “We thank the business for its stability and responsibility. These decisions should help to continue working, perform the functions of points of unbreakability and save jobs in the period of the most difficult energy conditions,” Yuliya Svyridenko noted.
Separately, the government also reminded about the support of small businesses. Natural persons-entrepreneurs of the second and third groups who work in socially important spheres will be able to receive one-time financial assistance in the amount of 7.5 to 15 thousand hryvnias.
The size of the payment depends on the number of employees, but a mandatory condition is the presence of at least one officially registered employee. You can apply for such assistance through the Diya portal. After the application is submitted, it is checked by the partner banks, and the State Employment Service transfers funds to the applicants. The received money is allowed to be spent on the purchase or repair of energy equipment, fuel for generators, and also payment of electricity. “The funds have a clear purpose – to support business operations in conditions of energy restrictions and help enterprises stay afloat,” the government said in a statement.
The authorities expect that the combination of zero loans and direct financial assistance will allow businesses to get through the most difficult period of winter without massive work stoppages, staff reductions and loss of economic activity in the regions.
Also, if the business does not have time to submit tax returns or register invoices due to a power outage, there will be no fines for this.
