From January 1, citizens of Ukraine who need it will be able to change their election address. The relevant possibility is provided for by the resolution of the Central Election Commission.

This was announced by the head of the CEC Oleg Didenko.

Answering the question whether it is possible to change the election address now, he noted: “According to the decision of the CEC, such an opportunity will open from January 1.”

According to Didenko, for this, citizens need to submit an application to the Department of the State Register of Voters. This can be done both in writing and electronically.

“We already have a mechanism for changing the election address. Now the CEC has restored the functioning of the State Register of Voters in the aspect of interaction with citizens. That is, in fact, this mechanism is already open, and it is possible to change the electoral address before the start of the election process,” explained the head of the CEC.

He also emphasized that the commission strives to simplify the procedure as much as possible: “We want to make this mechanism as simple as possible, so that the change of election address lasts longer and the majority of citizens can use it.”

There is no technical or legislative possibility in Ukraine yet vote in the presidential elections through the “Action” application. The idea is discussed only publicly, and no concrete steps are taken to implement it. Mykhailo Fedorov explained that changes in the laws and decisions of the Central Election Commission are needed first.

Volodymyr Zelenskyi declared his readiness of Ukraine to hold presidential elections immediately after the signing of the ceasefire agreement or the end of the war, and a referendum to approve this agreement. This position was a response to the calls of international partners, in particular the USA, and is reflected in the draft framework document, which is currently being discussed at the diplomatic level.
