On January 16, Finnish President Alexander Stubb decided to transfer the 31st package of defense aid to Ukraine based on the government’s submission, the Ministry of Defense of Finland reports.
The cost of the new package is about 98 million euros. In total, since the start of the full-scale war, Finland has provided defense aid to Ukraine in the amount of approximately 3.1 billion euros.
Finnish Defense Minister Antti Häkkiänen noted that the package was formed in an accelerated mode to meet Ukraine’s most critical needs. In 2026, the implementation of the procurement program to support Ukraine by the Finnish defense industrial complex is also underway.
For security reasons, the Ministry of Defense does not disclose the details of the package’s composition, delivery methods and schedule. Häkkiänen emphasized that defense support is the most effective way to contribute to the achievement of a just peace.
January 10 became the official date when Finland withdrew from the Ottawa Convention on the ban of anti-personnel mines.
We will remind that at the end of 2025, Lithuania officially withdrew from the Ottawa Convention, which prohibits the use, storage and production of anti-personnel mines.
