EU Defense Commissioner Andryus Kubilius said that Russia may try to test NATO’s defense capability in the next two to four years.

He said this in an interview with The Guardian.

According to him, such a forecast is based on intelligence assessments of NATO countries — Germany, Denmark, Finland and the Netherlands. Moscow may be ready for provocations or new aggression by 2030, and one of the Kremlin’s possible targets may be the Baltic states.

Kubilius emphasized that an attack on any Baltic country would mean aggression against the entire NATO and the European Union. He called on the allies to speed up defense plans and take into account Ukraine’s experience.

“My main message is: let’s ask Ukrainians how to prepare for defense and let them help us be ready,” he said.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said that the fear of a possible Russian attack on the countries of the European Union or NATO is exaggerated and even “ridiculous”. In his opinion, Moscow does not have enough strength for such an attack.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi considers it is quite possible that Russia may open a second front against another European state even before the end of the war in Ukraine.
