The government of Estonia will direct 400,000 euros to the humanitarian needs of Ukraine to overcome the consequences of Russia’s strikes on the energy infrastructure in frosty conditions.

This is reported by ERR.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia will distribute these funds among its strategic partners — the organizations Mondo, Eesti Pagulasabi and Päästeliit. The financial aid is intended for the creation of crisis centers, the arrangement of transit points for evacuees and the deployment of winter emergency aid points for the population.

Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsakhna stressed that Putin is trying to use cold and darkness as a weapon against Ukrainians to turn the tide of the war. According to the official, although the Ukrainian people are showing exceptional bravery, international support is critically necessary for victory. The allocated aid package aims to provide people with warmth and necessary resources during the worst winter period.

This initiative is part of the systemic support from Tallinn, which remains one of the leaders in the amount of aid to Ukraine in relation to its own GDP. Estonia continues to actively respond to humanitarian challenges caused by Russian aggression, focusing on the energy sustainability of Ukrainian communities.

Earlier, the government of Estonia discussed the issue of trade on the border with the Russian Federation and decided to increase the effectiveness of control over the movement of goods subject to sanctions.

Estonia transferred humanitarian aid to Ukraine in the form of five fully equipped ambulances and medical equipment.
