In several regions of Ukraine, on January 28, 2026, emergency power cuts were introduced in response to a difficult situation in the power system caused by the consequences of Russian shelling.
System operator “Ukrenergo” noted that the previously published blackout schedules are no longer in effect, and energy workers are steadily working to stabilize the system.
Cancellation of emergency shutdowns is possible only after normalization of the situation.
In conditions of increased risks for the energy infrastructure of Ukraine, it is important to prepare for possible planned or emergency blackouts, especially in the cold season.
On the morning of January 27, the Vinnytsia region was covered by heavy icing, which led to large-scale accidents on power grids .
Odesa region was covered by a large-scale energy project crisis caused by anomalous icing and reinforced by repeated attacks by the Russian Federation on infrastructure. As of the evening of January 27, 2026, DTEK energy workers managed to restore power to 101,000 families, but the situation remains critical.
