The National Research Institute of Earth Physics has announced seismic activity in the VANCH region. Underground magnitude shocks of 3.9 points took place at 10:14 at a considerable depth of Romanian time – 129 kilometers.
The intensity of the phenomenon is estimated at level II points, which indicates a relatively moderate force of earthquake.
The epicenter of the earthquake is located at a distance of 37 kilometers west of the city of Foxhans. Seismic activity was also felt within a radius of about 100 kilometers from the epicenter, in particular in such settlements as Buzau (62 km), Fanta-George (73 km), Brasov (85 km) and floors (99 km).
Particular attention is drawn to the proximity of the epicenter to the Odessa region of Ukraine, which borders with Romania, but no tangible consequences in the Ukrainian territory are not reported.
It is worth noting that the region of Vorha is known for its seismic activity and periodic earthquakes of varying intensity. This area is considered one of the most active seismic zones in Europe, where underground shocks are regularly recorded.
Deep earthquakes, similar to today, usually have less devastating potential on the surface than surface ones, but can be felt in a large area.
Experts continue to monitor the seismic situation in the region for timely detection of possible aftershots. Local authorities urge the population to maintain calm and follow the recommendations on earthquake behavior.
Currently, information about the victims or destruction has not been received as a result of this seismic phenomenon, which indicates the relatively safe nature of the event.
