Drone Strikes in Odesa Cause Damage and Injuries

On the night of March 19, Odesa experienced a significant drone attack, resulting in damage to multiple residential buildings and a university dormitory. Three individuals sustained injuries during the assault, prompting a swift response from local authorities.

The attack affected three districts of the city: Primorskyi, Kyivskyi, and Khadyzhbiyskyi, each reporting structural damage and various consequences. Details of the damage in these areas are outlined below.

Primorskyi District

In this area, 12 residential buildings were reported damaged. Two individuals were hospitalized due to injuries sustained during the attack. Emergency services are currently clearing debris and securing window openings.

According to local official Oleksandr Lysyak, an operational headquarters has been established, where residents have received over 20 consultations regarding further actions and assistance.

Kyivskyi District

This district saw damage to a 22-story residential building and the dormitory of a university, with a total of 180 windows shattered. An operational headquarters was set up at 01:10 to manage the aftermath, involving more than 40 municipal workers and specialized equipment. Efforts are ongoing to seal windows with plastic and OSB boards. One individual received on-site assistance.

Khadyzhbiyskyi District

In this district, a two-story building suffered partial destruction. Municipal services have already cleared the surrounding area and secured the damaged windows. The process of compiling inspection reports based on residents’ requests is underway.

Further Consequences and Visuals of the Attack

Oleh Kiper, head of the regional military administration, confirmed the fire and destruction caused by the attack, reiterating the reports of three injuries. He provided detailed information about one of the strikes, which hit a municipal enterprise and damaged vehicles.

“One of the Shahed drones struck a high-rise building, partially destroying several apartments, the facade, and glazing of the structure. Additionally, the territory of a municipal enterprise was affected, damaging part of the equipment and 11 vehicles,” Kiper stated.

He added that all fires have been extinguished, and emergency and municipal services are actively working to mitigate the aftermath of the attack.
