According to the expert, nuts, gluten and lactose are often combined in the composition of these sweets – several common allergens at once. Moreover, manufacturers do not always indicate the full composition on the package, which increases the risk of an unwanted reaction.

“We observe an increase in the number of allergic cases especially during the holidays, when the popularity of Dubai chocolate increases sharply,” Oleg Shvets noted.

The original dessert was created in the United Arab Emirates in 2021 by Fix Dessert Chocolatiers.
The classic recipe includes an outer layer of milk chocolate and a filling of pistachio paste or tahini, sometimes with the addition of crunchy filo dough.

Over time, this dessert became a global trend — coffee, cakes and other desserts are created on its basis.
The popularity of “Dubai chocolate” has led to the fact that major brands of sweets include it in their lines, the nutritionist explained.

Oleg Shvets emphasized that tahini (from sesame) is officially recognized as an allergen in the USA, and gluten and lactose are among the most common allergens in the world.
According to him, about 60% of people who are allergic to pistachios also react to cashews due to cross-sensitivity.

Experts advise carefully reading the composition of the product before buying, and if the label is missing or incomplete, it is better to refuse consumption.

“If itching, a rash, swelling of the lips or throat appear after use, you should immediately seek medical help,” the nutritionist emphasized.

Most people take the medicine incorrectly, which can alter its effect.

Experts remind: coffee, milk, juices and alcohol can reduce the effectiveness of drugs or cause side effects. The safest option is plain water.
