At present, there is no clear answer to the questions about financial sources of compensation for the losses caused to citizens of Ukraine by Russia.
The executive director of the register of losses caused by the aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine Markian Klyuchkovsky told about it on the television of the Telernador “Unified News”.
“The task of the register of losses and the compensation mechanism is very simple: to provide damages caused by war from Russia. That is, from the side that caused them. The registry is the only international mechanism for compensation for the damage caused, ”Klyuchkovsky said.
He stressed that information from Ukrainians about the damage caused began to gather from last year. The next step is to create a commission that will evaluate the losses of Ukrainians. The next step is the formation of a special fund, the funds of which are directed for their compensation.
“The question is that there is no practical mechanism yet. There are many discussions about the use of frozen assets of the Russian Federation. There are other mechanisms … This work is ongoing. That is, there is no clear answer yet. But again, at this stage, the main thing is that all solidarity: Russia should pay reparations, ”Klyuchkovsky summed up.
It should be reminded that the Council of Europe is preparing for the mass receipt of appeals from citizens of Ukraine to the register of losses created to fix the losses caused by war.
The Council of Europe Secretary General Allen Berce expressed serious concern with the human rights situation in Turkey after the arrest of the mayor of Imamamogl’s mayor, which is the main political opponent of the President of the country Recep Taipa Erdogan.
We also reported that the European Commission evaluates the ability to legislate for companies from the European Union to sign gas supply agreements from Russia. It’s about new contracts with an aggressor country.
