The incident occurred on December 15, 2023, during a session of the village council in the village of Keretski, when Batryn detonated three grenades. More than 20 people were injured as a result of the explosion. Two deputies died: one the next day, the other a month later. The investigation established that Batryn had prepared for the crime in advance by purchasing and storing RGD-5 and F-1 grenades at home.
The court also ordered the confiscation of the convict’s property, and a civil lawsuit was filed against the rural council for damages.
