During the vote, the bill on the introduction of the Institute of Multiple Citizenship in Ukraine was supported by 243 people’s deputies, and 19 voted against. In particular, nine people’s deputies abstained from voting.
People’s Deputy told in which cases it is permissible:
We will remind, on August 7 last year President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky made a bill on multiple citizenship in the Verkhovna Rada. In addition to consolidating the permissible cases of multiplicity of citizenship, the project of the law also determines the grounds for the loss of Ukrainian citizenship. Among other things, it is the voluntary acquisition of citizenship of the aggressor state.
This was preceded by the President’s promise to initiate a bill on the introduction of multiple citizenship in Ukraine, which would allow citizenship to all ethnic Ukrainians and their descendants from all over the world (except for the Russian Federation).
In December, the Verkhovna Rada supported the law on the introduction of the Institute of Multiple Citizenship in Ukraine as a basis.
