Denmark has already transferred six F-16 fighters to Ukraine. The remaining 13 will be sent later in two batches.
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen announced this at a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi.
According to her, Denmark has made no changes in its plans to transfer a certain number of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine.
“Six were delivered. This was the first batch,” Frederiksen noted.
She reminded that since last summer, Denmark was involved in the training of Ukrainian pilots to fly these fighters.
“It was difficult, but we were able to succeed in our studies. Therefore, the process continues. And then there will be a party and another next party. In total, there will be 19 (planes – ed.), as we said at the very beginning,” she said.
It was previously reported that by the end of 2024, Ukraine will receive another batch of F-16 fighters from Denmark. The date and number of aircraft in the new deliveries are currently not disclosed for reasons of operational security.
The Netherlands will transfer equipment and materials for the maintenance of Ukrainian F-16 fighters. Ukraine will also receive air-to-air missiles.
