After two weeks of severe frosts, Ukrainians became more active in the firewood market. In just one day, January 21, 8,000 cubic meters of fuel were bought — this is the highest figure since the beginning of the year. The state company assures that there will be enough firewood, and prices for the population will not increase until the end of the heating season. This is reported by the head of the state-owned enterprise “Forests of Ukraine” Yuriy Bolokhovets.
According to him, after two weeks of severe frosts, people began actively stocking up on firewood, especially in regions where there are interruptions in electricity supply or heating.
At the same time, the company assures that there is no shortage of fuel. Currently, more than 200,000 cubic meters of firewood are stored in the warehouses of “Forests of Ukraine”, and harvesting continues continuously and only increases every day. “There is firewood in almost all forestry companies,” Bolokhovets said.
Separately, he emphasized that the company fully fulfills requests from military units. All appeals, which are received in the prescribed manner, are provided with the necessary volumes of fuel. “All requests for firewood from military units are satisfied. Traditionally, the situation is difficult only in farms, the majority of whose territory is assigned to the nature reserve fund. But there are only a few of them,” said the head of the enterprise.
Also, “Forests of Ukraine” assured that the increase in demand will not lead to an increase in prices for the population. The price of firewood will remain stable at least until the end of this heating season.
According to the company’s management, the current reserves and procurement rates allow to fully cover people’s needs even during periods of peak load.
