A large-scale fire broke out in a private residential building in the village of Umansky District, Cherkasy Oblast, as a result of which small children died.
According to the State Emergency Service, the fire broke out in the evening of November 22 and very quickly covered the entire apartment.
At the time of the fire, children were in the house, and the mother, having noticed the flames, informed the rescuers in despair that the fire was already engulfing the house.
Firefighters who promptly arrived at the call localized the fire on an area of about 56 square meters, but there was not enough time to save everyone.
After the fire was extinguished, the remains of three children and a body fragment were found in the house, which, according to preliminary data, may belong to another child.
According to preliminary information, the dead could be born in 2018, 2020, 2022 and 2025.
Another child, born in 2017, managed to be taken out alive — she was taken to the hospital with first-degree burns on her hands and signs of poisoning by combustion products.
Doctors provide the victims with the necessary assistance, and law enforcement officers, together with rescuers, find out what exactly could have caused the flame to spread so rapidly.
The final conclusions regarding the causes of the fire will be made public after examinations and inspections.
