Dairy products in Ukraine are significantly more expensive: prices have increased by 15–27%

Prices for dairy products continue to rise in Ukraine – milk, kefir, sour cream, cheeses and yogurts. On average, they rose in price by 15-27% compared to last year. The main reasons are high production costs, in particular the rising price of electricity, as well as weak demand in the domestic market. Prices for dairy products continue to rise in Ukraine – milk, kefir, sour cream, cheeses and yogurts. On average, they rose in price by 15-27% compared to last year. The main reasons are high production costs, in particular the rising price of electricity, as well as weak demand in the domestic market.

This was reported by the analyst of the Association of Milk Producers, Georgy Kukhaleishvili.

Pasteurized milk with a fat content of up to 2.6% in a film costs UAH 47.61/kg — 1% cheaper than a month ago, but 20% more expensive than last year. Bottled milk — UAH 66.52/kg (+1.7% for the month, +22% for the year).

Kefir in a film (2.5%) is sold for an average of 57.16 UAH/kg (+1% per month, +17% per year), in a bottle – 78.92 UAH/kg (+3% per month, +22% per year). Cheaper brands offer kefir from UAH 46/kg, while premium brands cost up to UAH 80/kg.

Sour cream 15% in glasses — 189.99 UAH/kg (+1.5% per month), in film — 150.45 UAH/kg (+1%). Drinking yogurts cost an average of UAH 114.49/kg (–1.1% for the month, but +16% for the year), table yogurts — UAH 162.75/kg (+1% for the month).

Sour milk cheese (9%) costs UAH 288.91/kg (-2% per month, +15% per year). Ukrainian-made butter — UAH 588.80/kg (+18% for the year). The cheapest options start at UAH 466/kg, while the imported “President” costs about UAH 960/kg.

Hard cheeses also increased in price: “Ukrainian” — 603.46 UAH/kg (+22% for the year), “Dutch” — 598.44 UAH/kg (+22%), mozzarella — 622.52 UAH/kg (+24%). Cheap versions of hard cheeses start at 299 UAH/kg, the most expensive ones reach 700 UAH/kg.

Analysts point out that although some items have become cheaper in October, the overall market trend remains upward: producers’ costs continue to push prices up.

In Ukraine, purchase prices for milk are kept at a stable level, although the demand for dairy products is decreasing, and exchange prices in the world are falling.
