In the Kyiv region, law enforcement officers detained a group of people who kidnapped a one-year-old child from its mother due to fictitious debts. The police found the boy unharmed. Perpetrators face up to 12 years in prison.

During the investigation, it was established that the child was stolen from the house in the village of Sofiivska Borshchahivka on the night of January 20. Two men took the child, locked his mother in the apartment and took her mobile phone.
The reason for the crime was a non-existent debt in the amount of 200,000 dollars, which the perpetrators demanded from a woman who was raising a child on her own.
“Understanding that the woman did not recognize herself as a debtor, the men kidnapped her minor child. In addition, they seized 17 thousand hryvnias, documents, two mobile phones and disappeared from the scene,” the police said.
The police found the child in one of the apartments in Kyiv, where she was kept by an accomplice of the kidnappers. The child was found unharmed.
In less than a day, all the perpetrators were arrested – two Kyivans aged 21 and 22 and their 31-year-old accomplice.
Criminal proceedings have been opened for extortion and abduction of a child under Part 4 of Article 189 and Part 2 of Article 146 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
