On the eve of Bulgaria’s Viceremier, Atanas Zafirov stated that Bulgaria would not sell two Russian reactors to Ukraine from its unfinished NPP Belen because they still need it. The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine stated that the official position from the Bulgarian government has not yet been refused.

The Ministry has not yet received the official position of Bulgaria on this issue, and therefore considers any comments premature.
Ukraine is still interested in the purchase of unfinished NPPs “Belen” for the completion of the Khmelnytsky NPP, added in the department.
“Ukraine is interested in the purchase of equipment for the completion of two Khmelnitsky NPP units in accordance with the Verkhovna Rada’s decision. The completion of the Khmelnytsky NPP is an important project for Ukraine’s energy security. We are convinced that the equipment purchase agreement is mutually beneficial to both countries,” the Ministry reported.
We will remind that as soon as the Verkhovna Rada adopted the law on the purchase of reactors for the KhNPP, in Bulgaria the pro -Russian forces immediately registered the project of the law on the cancellation of permission for their transfer to Ukraine. Bulgaria also suddenly raised the price of these reactors to $ 700 million, although the Ukrainian side insists on $ 600 million.
