The head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense, Kyrylo Budanov, said that the corruption scandal in the energy sector could negatively affect the amount of international aid to Ukraine.
In an interview with Channel 24, he emphasized: the aggressor is already trying to take advantage of the situation, so it is important for Ukrainians to keep a cool head and not give the enemy additional arguments.
According to him, Russian bot-networks are actively spreading negative sentiments inside the country and trying to influence foreign partners, promoting the thesis that it is allegedly “not possible to do business” with Ukraine.
Budanov admitted that public indignation is understandable – people live in difficult conditions, without stable light, and against this background, abuses in the energy sector were exposed. At the same time, he warned that an excessive escalation of the situation could play against Ukraine itself, creating risks for further support.
Commenting on the scandal itself, the head of the GUR emphasized that the anti-corruption bodies did their job, and President Volodymyr Zelenskyi made the right decisions: those involved were immediately suspended, and later dismissed from their positions. The final point, he emphasized, should be put by the court.
Budanov emphasized that any corrupt actions, especially during wartime and in key industries, should be severely punished — without any excuses.
We will remind you who Timur Mindich is and why he appears in NABU affairs.
Mindich, a figure in the Energoatom case, may also be involved in the purchase of low-quality body armor for the army.
We have also already reported whether NABU and SAP had contact with Zelenskyi and how Mindich left.
Timur Mindich, a figure in the corruption investigation, probably also had an influence on Rustem Umyerov, the former Minister of Defense.
