The former Prime Minister of Great Britain, Boris Johnson, called for Ukraine to receive a $500 billion loan and to announce the date of the country’s accession to NATO. He announced this on Monday, November 18, on the social network Kh (Twitter).

Johnson published the address on the eve of the 1000th day of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation. He welcomed US President Joe Biden’s decision to allow Ukraine to use ATACMS missiles to strike Russian bases.

At the same time, the politician emphasized that Great Britain and France should symmetrically allow the use of Storm Shadow and SCALP cruise missiles.

“It’s time to provide the Ukrainians with the financial firepower to survive and win this conflict by providing them with a $500 billion Lend-Lease loan that they will be able to repay“, the ex-prime minister added.

He also emphasized the importance of determining where Ukraine actually belongs.

Ukraine is no longer a satellite of Moscow, but a free and independent sovereign democratic European nation. This means that we must have the courage and logic to give Ukrainians the necessary security guarantees and announce the date of Ukraine’s accession to NATO in the near future,” Johnson said.

The politician believes that these measures will convince the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin that “he made a huge mistake and that he will never conquer the Ukrainian people.”

Ukraine’s invitation to NATO is the first point of President Volodymyr Zelenskyi’s victory plan, which he presented to European leaders in Brussels on October 17.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said at a meeting of NATO defense ministers that Ukraine will become the 33rd or 34th member of the Alliance in the future. At the same time, the president of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Jerry Connolly noted that Ukraine will be able to receive an invitation to NATO only after restoring sovereignty over its territories.
