The Bureau of Economic Security currently employs only 30% of the required staff, and 70% of positions remain vacant. In an interview, BEB director Oleksandr Tsyvinskyi explains that because of this, the key units – analysts and detectives – are working in an intensified mode, and funding allows attracting only about 100 new employees next year.

“You see, we want this institution to produce results and detinize the economy. We require her to work in all areas, but at the moment the number of our staff is only 30%,” Tsyvinskyi said.

He explained that a large part of this staff ensures the vital activities of the body, and the key product that BEB can present to society and prevent budget losses of billions of hryvnias is provided by analysts and detectives.

Another problem is funding: “From the budget that has been established, we can only grow by 100 people next year. Within the framework of 2,769 vacancies, this is very little,” added the director of the BEB.

The situation with a shortage of personnel calls into question the speed and efficiency of investigations, as well as the possibility of fully covering all areas of work of the Bureau of Economic Security.
