On August 29, Ukrainians celebrate the Day of Remembrance of Defenders of Ukraine, who died in the struggle for independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. The commemorative day was erected by President Zelensky’s decree in 2019 for honoring the heroes who died during the Ilovay tragedy. The soldiers gave their lives in the struggle for the territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine. Today, on this day, we honor the memory of all defenders who died in the war with Russia.

On August 29, the World celebrates International Action Against Nuclear Tests (International Day Against Nuclear Tests). This event was launched at the 64th session of the UN General Assembly, which took place on December 2, 2009. All members of the organization were signed under resolution 64/35. Slovakia celebrate the day of the Slovak national uprising of 1944. Then the army of the first Slovak Republic strongly opposed the Wehrmacht and the puppet government of Joseph Tiso. The armed uprising, organized by the Slovak forces of resistance and directed against the regime of the First Slovak Republic of the Second World War, began on August 29. He was able to completely suppress October 28 of the same year with the help of SS and Wehrmacht troops.
