The National Police of Ukraine together with the Security Service of Ukraine exposed a group of arms dealers. They illegally sold weapons and explosives to crime.
The Department of Communication of the National Police of Ukraine informed about this.
“It was established that the criminal business was organized by a 31-year-old resident of Breweries of the Kyiv region. The initiator of the group involved three acquaintances – residents of Kyiv region and Chernihiv region, who searched for and delivered weapons,” the press service reported.
Criminal police operatives received information that several men were looking for ways to sell weapons on the territory of Ukraine, and prevented four weapons arsenals from falling into the hands of terrorists or criminals.
The extras tried to organize the sale of firearms and ammunition throughout Ukraine. With the participation of special police units, explosives technicians and canine experts of the Kyiv and Chernihiv regions, law enforcement officers conducted 10 searches at the places of residence of the suspects, in garages and cars.
“The attackers’ arsenals contained an artillery projectile, 13 pistols, 5 submachine guns, a rifle, underbarrel grenade launchers and shots to them, 24 grenades with fuses, almost 3,000 cartridges and a machine for making cartridges. The most expensive set cost 260,000 hryvnias, the total cost is over a million hryvnias,” the NPU informed.
The investigators of the National Police gathered enough evidence and announced that the detainees were suspected of committing the crime provided for in Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code (Illegal handling of firearms, ammunition or explosives). The sanction of this article of the Criminal Code of Ukraine provides up to 7 years of imprisonment.
Earlier in Dnipro, law enforcement officers detained a gang that was selling weapons. Traders asked for “goods” from 5,000 to 120,000 hryvnias.
