The AK Antonov State Museum of Aviation received two new unique exhibits that have been stored at the Borodyanka airfield before: Luxe passenger AN-2P and a rare high-altitude AN-6.

The planes were transferred to the Museum Fund thanks to the efforts of the NGO “Association for the Development of Aviation of Ukraine (ARAU)”. Arau President Oleksandr Badrudinov and test pilot Alexander Likhodid contributed to the realization of the idea of transferring these machines.
“It’s not just metal structures, it is a living history of Ukrainian aviation. We are glad that they have managed to keep these planes and pass them on to the museum, where they will get a new life, ”said Alexander Badrudinov.
An-6 is a unique altitude aircraft, built in a very limited number (no more than 10 units). The transferred copy is the only representative of its type in Ukraine.
- In the 1960s, this aircraft set a record, climbing 11,000 meters.
- It was equipped with turbocharging, oxygen apparatus and machine gun and used to beat Western reconnaissance probes.
An-2P is a modification of the legendary multi-purpose An-2 aircraft, known for the increased comfort of the salon. Thanks to a good condition, the machine can be completely restored.
The Director of the State Aviation Museum Valery Lavrenko informed:
“The restoration team is already developing a recovery program. After repair, the AN-2P will be able to rise again into the sky as an acting retro exhibit, and the An-6 will complement the exposure of the most rare Antonov aircraft. “
At the beginning of a full -scale invasion of the Russian Federation, the planes in Borodyanka experienced occupation and survived thanks to the tricks of the service personnel: the plates “Carefully, replaced!” Were installed around the aerodrome, which was why the invaders were afraid to go there.
After the restoration, these unique rare exhibits will become a real decoration of the CB Antonov aircraft collection.
Earlier in the Kyiv Council they stated that they had removed and cut the MiG-17 aircraft in the courtyard of the capital school №5 on the street of the garden-botanical, because the aviation museum did not want to take it. They say that no one asked them.
Antonov State Museum of Aviation in Kiev was in the 12th place of the top 20 of the best aviation museums in the world from CNN.
