The border guards of the Lviv detachment discovered a violin of the Italian master Antonio Stradivari, made in 1728, in a car leaving Ukraine.

This is reported by the State Border Service.

“The violin is marked as Antonius Stradiuarius Cremomentis Faciebad Anno 1728. It was found in the trunk of a MITSUBISHI car at the Krakow checkpoint on the border with Poland,” the message reads.

The violin may be an original instrument made by an Italian craftsman. This instrument is distinguished by a special purity of sound and is quite appreciated in the world.

Customs officials seized the musical instrument. Whether it is of cultural and historical value will be established by the examination.

Border guards and customs officials stopped an attempt to transport violins by the Italian master Antonio Stradivari across the Ukrainian-Polish border at the Krakow checkpoint.

The glorious master Antonio Stradivari (1644 – 1737) created almost 2.5 thousand unique instruments, but about 650 products have survived to our time, and it seems that a significant part of them is in Ukraine. Because they are intercepted at the border quite regularly.

For example, in May, border guards and customs officials stopped an attempt to transport Stradivarius violins across the Ukrainian-Polish border at the Krakivets checkpoint.

In April 2023, the violin was found at the Orlivka ferry checkpoint: the 40-year-old driver of a Mercedes minibus was transporting it along with other things to Bulgaria, according to him, at the request of a friend.

And in July 2023, border guards of the Belgorod-Dniester detachment, together with customs officials, prevented the export of a violin by the Italian master Antonio Stradivari, made in 1730, abroad.
