As a result of a months-long joint special operation of the State Security Service and the SBU in Kyiv, a 35-year-old agent of the Belarusian KGB was detained, who was trying to infiltrate one of the units of Ukrainian military intelligence.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, the perpetrator worked for the Belarusian special services since 2015, and in 2020 she was seconded to Ukraine to conduct intelligence activities.
Journalism served as a cover for hostile activities: first on Viktor Medvedchuk’s sanctioned channel “112 Ukraine”, and later in one of the leading domestic media. Before the attempt to penetrate the GUR, the woman went to an EU country under the guise of a medical examination, where she received instructions from curators. Her task was to collect data on Belarusians and Russians who are fighting on the side of Ukraine, as well as to establish contacts with employees of the Chinese Embassy in Kyiv to obtain information about the activities of Chinese diplomats.
During the last months, the Ukrainian special services played an operational game with the agent, providing her with disinformation under the guise of secret information. After collecting an exhaustive evidence base, the spy was detained, having seized the technical means for hidden recording and communication. She is currently in custody, she has been charged with espionage, which carries a sentence of up to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
Also, the SBU exposed an agent of the GRU of the Russian Federation, who was “blitzing” the locations of the Defense Forces in Kramatorsk.
In Odesa, employees of the Security Service of Ukraine exposed and detained a Russian agent who was giving coordinates of local military facilities to the occupiers.
