The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine has reminded of strict sanctions for parents who avoid paying alimony.
This is reported by LIGA.net with reference to the official clarification of the Ministry of Justice.
According to the information of the department, collection of funds for child maintenance is possible not only from the debtor’s official income, but also through the sale of his personal property.
The standard procedure involves automatic withholding of alimony from the debtor’s salary, pension, stipend or other regular income. The enforcement service sends a corresponding letter to the employer or other institution that pays the funds.
However, many non-payers deliberately hide their real income, transferring it to the “shadow”, which complicates the work of state bodies.
If alimony arrears accumulate within three months, the Ministry of Justice can apply stricter measures of influence. The debtor is entered in the Unified Register, after which his debt is repaid through the sale of real estate, cars and other valuable property.
In the most serious cases, a criminal case is initiated under Article 164 of the Criminal Code — the culprits face community service, administrative supervision or imprisonment.
We will remind you that Ukrainians began to pay alimony more conscientiously in order not to be drafted into the army.
The record holder for non-payment of alimony will also be tried in Kyiv.
